Unfortunately, Malware injections are an unpleasant part of having a site that may not have been updated recently or at some point the hosting or site hasn’t been 100% secure. Hackers are ruthless when it comes to these type of vulnerabilities. BUT we can mitigate the risks if we deploy strong security measures and regularly back up and update our WordPress websites.
In this type of situation – ensuring you’ve got a backup of your site that you can reinstate – can save you a lot of money, time and heart ache.
If you don’t have one checking with your hosting to see if they can assist. Sometime you’re lucky and they have one.
Without the backup, Hack recovery can be really painful, it means going through and cleaning files and removing injected files, and improving security.
Or as we discussed, if you’re not attached to the site, then deleting the site and doing a clean installation / starting again can be an option.
You could also approach the hosting – to see if they’ll setup a staging site so you can rebuild the site.
I would 100% recommend all WordPress website owners learn how to take care of their backups and updates , it’s something anyone can learn and it really a vital element if you do wish to use WordPress and all it’s amazing functionality.
